SNEB Affiliates are local, state or regional organizations of nutrition and allied professionals that support the mission, vision, values, and goals of SNEB. Through this partnership, both SNEB and the Affiliates gain the mutual benefits of group expertise and knowledge; local, regional and national networks, and resource sharing among affiliates and SNEB. Each Affiliate has its own structure, bylaws, officers and activities. As such, the information contained on these pages represents the position and/or opinion of the Affiliate and not SNEB. Collaborations
SNEB Receives Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations
Effective July 2018, the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) has been granted special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. With this status, SNEB will be provided opportunities for direct engagement with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as with the United Nations Secretariat, programs, funds and agencies. Specifically, the ECOSOC will contact SNEB for expert information and advice related to nutrition education. SNEB will be informed about the provisional agenda of ECOSOC and SNEB may make requests for items to be added to the provisional agenda or submit position papers related to agenda topics.
Additionally, SNEB will be able to designate an official representative to attend select meetings at the United Nations headquarters in New York, as well as at the offices in Geneva and Vienna. In order to advance issues related to nutrition education, SNEB may be invited to conduct oral presentations and consultations with the ECOSOC. This special consultative status will provide exciting opportunities for SNEB to expand its international reach and to help increase access to evidence-based nutrition education to relevant policy makers, interested NGOs and ultimately citizens, educators and learners globally. Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK)
SNEB Past President Tracy Fox collaborates with AFHK through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation School Health Consortium focused on ensuring strong implementation of regulations and policies related to the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act. The School Wellness Policies website continues to provide resources on this topic.
The Dietary Guidelines Alliance is a partnership among leading health organizations, the government and food industry organizations, dedicated to providing consumers with concrete, practical advice on how to apply the Dietary Guidelines to their lives. The Alliance recognizes the role that all of these strategies play in helping Americans manage their weight, and wanted to explore messaging concepts that could motivate families in their effort to improve health. Healthy Aging Dietetic Practice Group
SNEB’s Healthy Aging Division and the Healthy Aging Dietetic Practice Group (HA-DPG), a dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), entered into a collaboration agreement in 2010. The groups agree to exchange resources and develop educational material.

Korean Society of Community Nutrition
The Korean Society of Community Nutrition was founded in 1995 to enhance nutritional status and promote health status of community members, nutritionally vulnerable population, workers, and all people through community nutrition research and public health nutrition practices. With the goal of promoting community nutrition, nutrition education and healthy behaviors, the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) and the Korean Society of Community Nutrition (KSCN) have signed a formal letter of agreement. The agreement was signed by SNEB past president Tracy Fox and KSCN president Dr. Yong Ok Kim on Monday, July 26, 2011 at the SNEB Annual Conference in Kansas City, MO during a reception hosted by the SNEB International Nutrition Education Division. Also in attendance at the reception was KSCN president-elect Dr. Jin-Sook Yon and Soo-Kyung Lee, secretary of international relations.
National Alliance for Nutrition and Activity (NANA)
SNEB Past President Tracy Fox engages with NANA regularly, and they have been instrumental in a number of areas that are priorities for SNEB like school meals, dietary guidelines, and menu labeling. She serves on a number of the NANA subcommittees and will continue to do so. NANA has formed a smaller workgroup to look at SNAP-Ed issues as they prepare for the upcoming Farm Bill.
Nutrition Education Labeling Consortium
The Nutrition Labeling Education Consortium is dedicated to increasing consumer awareness, understanding and usage of fact-based nutrition labeling.
SNAP-Ed Strategy Group
The National SNAP-Ed Strategy Group is a project of the Center for Healthy Food Access, a national collaborative effort working to increase access to and demand for healthy foods and beverages in underserved urban and rural communities.
USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy & Promotion National Strategic Partnership
- They must have a health mandate consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the mission of the USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy & Promotion (CNPP).
- They will promote nutrition content in the context of the entirety of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
- They will specifically disseminate CNPP’s Dietary Guidelines messages.
- They will participate in CNPP sessions to develop and execute a joint strategic nutrition promotion plan annually.
What’s Shaking? Creative Ways to Boost Flavor With Less Sodium is a national collaborative sodium reduction initiative to foster creative ways to boost flavor and maximize taste to support efforts to lower the sodium content of school meals.
