In 2015, the College of Health Sciences and Technology in the Rochester Institute of Technology created the Wegmans School of Health and Nutrition (WSHN) with a gift from the Wegmans Family Charitable foundation to address local, national and global health and nutrition issues from an educational and intervention perspective. WSHN envisions that scholars, students & citizens walk the talk to secure health for all. Our mission is to engineer effective health and nutrition education to be a reasonable adventure that is…feasible, sustainable, compelling and rewarding.
WSHN focuses on research and education to prepare students and citizens to be leaders in health and well-being outreach. The School’s academic components include undergraduate major and minor programs in Nutrition and Exercise Science with a Masters of Science in Management of Health and Well-being planned for later 2018.
WSHN is served by the Nutrition Education, Engineering and Designs (NEEDs) Center to develop theory-based programs and affirm an evidence-base in implementation science driven dissemination activities.. More information, including the incorporation of these and other NEEDs programs to enhance nutrition education, can be found on the NEEDs Center website.
