Get to know more about the National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) and all the resources they have to offer nutrition education professionals.
NCCOR is a collaborative between the nation’s four leading childhood obesity research funders: the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institutes of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. NCCOR’s mission is to accelerate progress in reducing childhood obesity for all children, with particular attention to high-risk populations and communities.
At the 2020 SNEB Annual Conference, NCCOR gave a presentation called “Tools of the Trade: Using NCCOR’s Measures Registry Resource Suite in the Field” which highlights the Measures Registry Resource Suite resource and shares how it can be used by nutrition educators with respect to research and in the classroom. The Measures Registry Resource Suite encompasses three tools relevant to childhood obesity research and evaluation:
- The Measures Registry: A searchable database of more than 1,400 articles with more than 100 discrete measures to answer research questions.
- Measures Registry User Guides: Walk users through the process of using the Measures Registry to select appropriate measures. The User Guides also include many relevant case studies for nutrition education professionals, such as “Assessing Children’s Food Preferences in Relation to Advertising.”
- Measures Registry Learning Modules: Highlight key concepts from the four domain-specific Measures Registry User Guides in 5 to 15-minute videos.
