NAIROBI, Kenya – Six members of the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, including five past presidents, presented a research capacity building workshop to the faculty of Daystar University June 17-21, 2019.
Drs. Adrienne White (University of Maine, emeritus), Mary Murimi (Texas Tech University), Kendra Kattelmann (South Dakota State University), Geoffrey Greene (University of Rhode Island) and Martha Archuleta (Utah State University) were joined by Dr. Christopher Taylor (The Ohio State University), an active SNEB member. Dr. Murimi serves as honorary chancellor at Daystar University and organized the workshop at the request of Daystar’s vice chancellor.
The six faculty provided a four-day workshop on research design, manuscript preparation and grant-writing skills. The final day of the workshop was devoted to presenting at a public forum for diabetes prevention. Faculty also visited with local administrators in rural Kenya in the design and development of elementary schools to enhance K-12 education in Kenya.
