The SNEB Awards Committee welcomes nominations, including self-nominations, for members who have made significant contributions to Community Nutrition, particularly in BIPOC or low-resource communities. No advanced degree is required, and nominees may work in various settings, such as community organizations, schools, nonprofits, or government. 

Awards Open for Nominations Include:

  • Criteria 
    • Must be nominated and sponsored by a current SNEB member. 
    • Must have at least 10 years of SNEB membership and 20 years of experience in nutrition education. 
    • Must demonstrate outstanding achievement in nutrition education, including: 
    • Contributions through teaching, advocacy, program development, or leadership. 
    • Impact on nutrition education through resources, grants, or program sustainability. 
    • Must have a strong record of service to SNEB, such as volunteer leadership or other contributions. 
    • Nominator must provide a letter of support. 
    • Award may be given posthumously. 
  • Criteria
    • Nominated and sponsored by a current SNEB member. 
    • 10-19 years of professional work in nutrition education. 
    • Current professional SNEB membership for at least 5 years. 
    • Outstanding professional accomplishments in nutrition education, such as: 
    • Teaching, advocacy, curriculum development, or collaborations. 
    • Success in securing resources, grants, or creating sustainable programs. 
    • Leadership of large programs or publication of scholarly materials. 
    • Significant contribution to SNEB, fostering its mission to promote effective nutrition education and communication for healthful behaviors. 
  • Criteria 
    • Nominated by a current SNEB member. 
    • 1-9 years of post-degree work in nutrition education and promotion. 
    • Is currently and SNEB member and has been for at least 3 years (student and early professional membership counts). 
    • Record of outstanding achievement in nutrition education, including: 
    • Teaching, curriculum development, coordination in various settings, advocacy. 
    • Success in nutrition education programs, grants, or policy changes for sustainability. 
    • Leadership in programs or collaborations, scholarly publications, or reports. 
    • Contribution to SNEB through leadership, conference sessions, or webinars. 
    • Ideal candidates are active contributors to SNEB, rising in leadership and service. 
  • Criteria 
    • (1) Program impact 
      • Reach and scope of the program 
      • Addresses a significant identified need 
      • Contributes to evidence-based nutrition education 
      • Effectively solves or addresses a nutrition-related problem 
      • Incorporates various levels of influence from the social-ecological model 
    • (2) Program design quality 
      • Evaluation tools show program effectiveness 
      • Appropriately targets age-specific audiences 
      • Tailored approach to educating the target audience 
      • Program sustainability 
      • Cultural competency in design 
    • (3) Innovation/creativity 
      • Innovative use of technology or with new populations 
      • Includes experiential learning (virtual or real) 
      • Original program approach 
    • (4) Usefulness for educators 
      • Evidence of program materials used by others 
      • Easily replicable by other educators or organizations

  • Criteria 
    • Must be a current SNEB member with at least 5 years of professional membership. 
    • Must be nominated and sponsored by a current SNEB member (self-nominations allowed). 
    • Must have a record of outstanding achievement in nutrition education research, including: 
    • Publications, presentations, grants, student mentorship, and/or national panel invitations. 
  • (Awarded by the Division for Higher Education) 
  • Criteria 
    • Current SNEB member. 
    • Self-nominations or nominated by a current SNEB member. 
    • Employed full-time at a college/university with at least 25% effort in teaching nutrition 
    • Minimum of 3 years of collegiate teaching experience 
    • Outstanding achievements in teaching nutrition in higher education, including: 
      • Scholarship evaluating teaching and learning strategies 
      • Activities inside and outside of the classroom that indicate service to students 
      • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students 
      • Mentoring faculty to improve their teaching effectiveness in the classroom 
  • (Awarded by the Research Division) 
  • Criteria 
    • Scholarship evaluating teaching and learning strategies

  • Award Categories 
    • Early-Stage Scholar 
      • First or senior author must be within 10 years of completing their terminal degree or be in a trainee position (student/post-doc) at submission. 
    • Established Scholar 
      • First or senior author must be in the middle or senior stages of their career, defined as more than 10 years in the profession at submission. 
  • (Awarded by the Advisory Committee on Public Policy) 
  • Recognizes efforts to shape and promote policies related to nutrition, physical activity, and/or health equity. 
  • Criteria 
    • Awards given to individuals or groups who have significantly contributed to creating and/or implementing policies that support and positively impact health related to nutrition, physical activity, and/or health equity. 
  • (Awarded jointly with the Korean Society of Community Nutrition) 
  • Categories 
    • Professional  
      • At least 3 years of work in nutrition education and promotion after terminal degree 
      • Nominated and sponsored by a current KSCN member 
      • Current KSCN member for at least 5 years 
      • Demonstrated knowledge and contributions to nutrition education and promotion, particularly with immigrant and minority populations in Korea, including: 
        • Collaborating with organizations or faculty 
        • Conducting research on diverse populations 
        • Leading programs promoting nutrition education and multi-cultural understanding 
        • Authoring scholarly materials or reports 
        • Advocating for sustainable nutrition programs 
        • Living outside their home country is not required 
    • Student 
      • Nominated and sponsored by a current SNEB member 
      • Must be a MS or Ph.D. candidate from a 4-year university.
