At SNEB, our greatest strength lies in the diverse talents of our community members. To celebrate and showcase this remarkable network, we’re thrilled to launch our Member Spotlight series! By sharing personal stories and achievements, we aim to strengthen connections and foster a deeper sense of belonging, creating a more unified and supportive SNEB community.


Daniela Avelino, MS, is a Graduate Assistant at the University of Connecticut with a passion for leveraging digital tools to improve nutrition education. Inspired by the potential of technology to make nutrition knowledge more accessible, Daniela became a member of SNEB to enhance her skills in designing and implementing digital interventions that promote food and nutrition literacy.

She is particularly focused on addressing health disparities by creating culturally relevant, reliable, and accessible digital resources for underserved communities. Daniela is also dedicated to expanding her knowledge of behavior change theories and applying them to digital platforms to encourage healthier dietary habits.

Through her work, Daniela aims to bridge the gap in nutrition education and empower individuals to make informed, healthier food choices.


What inspired you to become a member of SNEB?

My work on leveraging nutrition education through digital tools.

Are there particular challenges or issues in the field of nutrition education that you are passionate about addressing?

I’m passionate about addressing health disparities in nutrition education. I’m particularly focused on using digital tools to improve access to reliable, culturally relevant information for underserved communities.

What specific skills or knowledge are you hoping to develop through your involvement with SNEB?

Skills in designing and implementing digital interventions that improve food and nutrition literacy. Additionally, I want to expand my knowledge of behavior change theories and how they can be applied within digital platforms to encourage healthier dietary habits.
