Élise Jalbert-Arsenault, Dt.P. M.Sc.(C), received SNEB Foundation Student Scholarships at the 2015 and 2016 Annual Conferences in Pittsburgh, Penn. and San Diego, Calif. With these scholarships, she was able to attend her first international conference and give her first presentation outside of Canada. Jalbert-Arsenault said she has many wonderful memories from the conferences from both the activities and the people she met.
“These conferences were amazing occasions to meet other dieticians, students and young professionals with the same interests in research and public health nutrition,” she recalled. “The many mixer events and the mentorship program are incredible opportunities to exchange on research projects, career development and learn from other students, professors and professionals.”
Being a student SNEB member has provided Jalbert-Arsenault with a large amount of resources she has been able to utilize in and outside of her studies.
“I have had access to webinars and resources related to food environment, writing skills, policy analysis and advocacy,” she said. “With the end of my master’s degree and my many other involvements in my university I did not have much time to participate in the society’s life outside the annual conferences, but I sure hope I will be able to do so in the next few years!”
Jalbert-Arsenault recently received her Master’s in Public Health Nutrition and is working in Haiti this summer for a research project on food insecurity.
