Join us in Washington, DC and make your voice heard in support of nutrition education!
This Hill Day is being organized for SNEB and ASNNA members, conference attendees, and allies to participate in educational meetings with Congressional offices on Capitol Hill. Participants will join either small state-based teams or multi-state teams for interactive legislative visits to share the importance of nutrition education, discuss the impacts of the loss of SNAP-Ed funding resulting from H.R. 1, and help build support and champions for the future of nutrition education proposal.
Why should I participate?
Participating in this event is your opportunity to use your expertise – including your experience on the front lines of nutrition education – to directly shape the federal policies that affect your programs and the communities you serve. By joining colleagues from across the country on Capitol Hill you help elevate the visibility and value of nutrition education, protect and strengthen key programs and build long-term relationships with legislative offices who will look to you as a trusted resource on these issues. You will also gain practical advocacy skills, expand your professional network, and leave knowing you did not just respond to policy changes but helped influence them.
Who can participate in Advocacy Day?
This advocacy day is for nutrition educators and trainees at every level who see the impact of federal policy in their daily work. That includes community and SNAP-Ed educators, program administrators, faculty and researchers, students, and early-career professionals who want to build their advocacy skills and speak up for the communities they serve.
Where is everything happening?
Organized meetings will take place in the House and Senate office buildings on Capitol Hill in Washington DC on July 28.
